If you see this in your yard, do not break it under any circumstances
Purslane truly seems like a hidden gem! Despite being considered a weed in many places, it’s clear that this plant has some remarkable benefits. The fact that it’s packed with antioxidants, omega-3s, calcium, and magnesium, all of which contribute to overall health, is impressive. Its ability to support cardiovascular health and strengthen bones is a real bonus, especially for people looking for plant-based sources of nutrients.
What I find fascinating is how adaptable purslane is. The fact that it grows even in dry and tough conditions, like cracks in sidewalks, shows just how resilient it is. And the added bonus of it improving soil health while adding beauty to a garden makes it a win-win for both gardeners and those looking to boost their nutrition.
It’s also interesting how something so nutritious could be labeled as a “noxious weed” in certain places, though I guess it can become invasive if not kept in check. I’m curious, do you grow purslane, or have you tried adding it to your meals before?
