This Pittie Was Devastated When His Owners Surrendered Him To The Shelter Again

It’s incredibly hard to come to terms with the fact that things are going downhill just when it seemed like they were finally looking up—and that’s exactly what the main character in today’s story experienced.

March, a Pitbull mix, was overjoyed when he thought he was leaving ACCT Philly behind for a brighter future.

But that joy didn’t last long. His adoption unexpectedly fell through, and March was returned to the Philadelphia city shelter.

A Stroke of Misfortune

The sudden change took a toll on March. Back in his kennel, he became visibly depressed and unwell, withdrawing from everything around him and curling up against the cold gray wall of the shelter.

But fate had a twist in store.

When local reporter Dawn Timmeney spotted the heartbroken pup, she knew she had to take action.

She shared his story on Facebook, highlighting March’s lovable personality with a heartfelt message:

“…I’d be a great running buddy. Think of all the compliments when people ask, ‘Where did you get that beautiful dog?’ Come visit me for a meet-and-greet—maybe I’ll be running with you before March turns to April.”

The post gained traction quickly and brought wonderful news.

ACCT Philly later shared an update: March had been rescued!

While he hadn’t found a permanent home yet, he was transferred to one of their trusted rescue partners, who chose to remain anonymous.

They confirmed that March is now with a reputable local rescue organization that operates a no-kill shelter and will help him find a forever family.

March’s spirits lifted immediately. He was thrilled to begin a new chapter filled with love, affection, and plenty of belly rubs.

His rescue didn’t just bring joy to him—it also freed up space in the shelter, making room for another animal in need.

A Final Thought

According to the ASPCA, around 3.1 million dogs enter shelters in the U.S. each year.

With that in mind, shelters are always in need of support. So consider visiting your local shelter—whether to adopt, foster, or simply offer companionship to dogs waiting for their forever homes. Your kindness could change a life.
