I Took in a Fortune Teller with a Newborn, I Was Stunned in the Morning When I Looked into My Sick Daughters Room

When I took in a stranded fortune teller and her newborn, I thought I was simply offering shelter. But the next morning, my daughter wasn’t in her room.

The night before, I’d found Miranda—a young, scarf-wrapped woman on the side of a dark road, in labor. She was scared, with no one to turn to, so I helped deliver her baby, then offered them a place to stay. I lived alone with my six-year-old daughter, Sarah, after my wife passed, and this woman clearly needed help.

The next morning, I found Sarah sleeping beside Miranda and her baby. Miranda explained that Sarah had called out for her mother in a nightmare, so she’d comforted her, telling her about a guardian who protected children from bad dreams. Sarah had clung to her, finding a warmth and comfort that had been missing since her mother’s passing.

Watching them together, I felt immense gratitude. Miranda’s presence had brought peace and healing to our home, an unexpected gift. When Sarah asked if she could stay, Miranda smiled, agreeing warmly. And for the first time in a long while, I felt a sense of light and hope filling our lives again.
