Rescuers were initially concerned it might be difficult to rehome the bonded 8-year-old companions, who had spent their entire lives side by side. But they didn’t anticipate the overwhelming response to Spike and Max’s touching story, which captured thousands of hearts.
Spike, a blind dog, now relies on his best friend Max, a loyal cat who acts as his guide through life.
The duo ended up at Saving Grace Animal Society in Alberta, Canada, after their former owner realized they could no longer properly care for them. Previously, the two had lived outside in a covered shelter, but with the harsh winter setting in, it became clear they needed the warmth and safety of an indoor home.
Max has been a guiding light for Spike, sticking by his side through everything. They eat together, play together, and even sleep cuddled up together.
The shelter knew from the start that Spike and Max had to stay together. They arrived as best friends, and they deserved to find a loving home as a pair.
And now, Spike and Max have officially been adopted! They’ve found a wonderful forever home with a new loving owner all the way in Manitoba.
